Overview

This Level 3 NVQ in Bench Joinery qualification is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills to pursue a career within the Construction industry. Bench Joinery is Workshop based, manufacturing joinery components used in the Construction and service Industries. You need to be employed to study this qualification.

You will gain the knowledge and skills to interpret drawings, organise work, measure, mark out and manufacture a range of joinery components such as stairs, windows, doors, kitchen units, bedroom and office furniture, shop fronts etc. You will also learn how to operate woodworking machinery.

It is expected that learners have successfully gained the Level 2 qualification before progressing to Level 3 or have substantial industry experience in this field.

The course is assessed through a series of competence based assessments within College and the work place and end of unit tests

Achievement of this qualification will enable the learner to follow a career in their chosen field in Carpentry or Joinery. On completion students can progress onto Higher Education qualifications such as Level 4/5 Foundation Degree programmes.

You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C or Level 2 Essential Skills in English, Maths and Information Technology.
