What does South West College Provide?

What does South West College Provide?

Undertaking a further, higher or vocational course is about more than simply turning up for class. While most of your time at college will be rewarding and fun, there may be times when you need some extra support. This could include additional learning support, exam support in the form of extra time, scribe, reader etc.

South West College are committed to providing a supportive and friendly learning environment for all students. Our confidential student learning support service can help students with a disability and/or learning difficulty with a range of different support mechanisms, these include:

  • In class support (e.g. note takers and a learning support worker) as well as one-tone
  • Support outside the classroom (e.g. help with assignments)
  • Loan of specialist equipment (talking calculators, loop system) and specialist software (Zoom Text)

We advise students who require learning support to speak with your campus Student Engagement and Support officer as soon as you start to ensure that individual arrangements are put in place that will support you through your time at the College.

The Learning Support Team will also meet with your parent/s/guardian/carer to ensure that a support plan is put in place that takes account of all evidence provided.

(all information provided applies to SWC Employees who are also parents/guardians/carers of SWC Students)
