This Level 1 Plumbing qualification is for learners wanting to learn the basic skills and knowledge involved in plumbing. The qualification covers a range of basic tasks and underpinning knowledge involved in plumbing.
This qualification enables you to develop craft and hand-skills before progressing into further training within the Plumbing sector. All of the units develop your practical skills and enable you to demonstrate your ability to complete common tasks in all units.
No formal entry requirements, however students will be asked to undertake an initial assessment and informal interview. This qualification is suitable for anyone aged 16 and over.
The course is assessed through completion of a practical task manual in the workshop, and theory-based assessments completed in class under exam conditions.
This qualification does not lead directly to a job, but does provide learners with the basic core skills training and underpinning knowledge to facilitate progression to Level 2 in Plumbing and Heating.
You will be expected to secure a work placement in a plumbing related work environment, for example: either on a construction site, a plumbing retail store, or maintenance in hospital/schools. You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C or Level 2 Essential Skills in English, Maths and information Technology. You will also study broader transferable skills in employability and Personal Social Development.
