The Going Places Programme is available to anyone between the ages of 16-65 years old, who are unemployed, socially inactive and not in training or education and who live within the Neighbourhood Renewal Areas in Strabane. These include, Ballycolman Estate, Lisnafin Park, Carlton Drive, Fountain Street, Drumallagh Estate, Springhill Park and Town Center.
What will I be doing?
The Going Places Programme is an employability programme run by the South West College in Strabane. Participants from local Neighbourhood Renewal Areas will get the opportunity to gain a range of qualifications, including Level 1 Health and Social Care, Level 1 Customer Service, Level 1 Employability, L3 First Aid and Manual Handling Training. In addition, participants were given the opportunity to gain their driving licence, receiving 28 funded driving lessons, funded theory test & practical test.
The Going Places programme also offers support for Job Search, CV building and Interview Techniques. There is a focus on building confidence & self-esteem through employability classes and a dedicated Mentor is available throughout for support. There are also opportunities to undertake a work placement to gain valuable work experience
Why should I do it?
The Going Places Programme offers one to one guidance and Mentor Support, enhancing participant’s confidence and motivation by meeting new friends, attending scheduled classes. Participants will engage in a tailored programme, leading to achievement of accredited qualifications; C&G L1 Customer Service or L1 Health and Social Care
Participants will also engage in job clubs, CV building, interview skills, employer led workshops, support applying for Full-Time and Part-Time employment, Participants will have access to career advice and guidance.
The Going Places Programme will provide participants with the employability skills and confidence required to progress in the World of work.
