This OCN NI Level 3 Award or Certificate in Carbon Accounting course is designed for those who want to develop practical skills in measuring and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. You'll learn the principles of carbon accounting, including key concepts like Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and how to apply these to various organisational contexts. The course will cover methodologies for data collection, calculation, and verification, enabling you to produce accurate carbon inventories. You'll also explore the importance of carbon reporting for corporate sustainability and compliance. This qualification is ideal for professionals aiming to enter or advance within the growing field of environmental management and sustainability.

The course materials are structured to guide you through these topics, starting from the ground up, making it accessible even if you don't have prior experience in environmental management or carbon accounting.
An interest in the area of Carbon Accounting and Sustainable Construction is required.
E-assessment:
This method uses information technology to assess learners' work. Possible content for this includes electronic portfolios and e-tests.
Practical demonstration/assignment:
This assessment method involves using a carbon accounting template for a work-based scenario chosen by the learner and approved by the tutor. The evidence for this will include a learner log and a carbon accounting database.
Students may progress onto further study at South West College in one of our many Construction and the Built Environment courses. Please check the college website for courses at Further and Higher Education level and their entry requirements.
For the OCN NI Level 3 Award and Certificate in Carbon Accounting, previous knowledge would be beneficial but not necessarily required. The course is designed to provide learners with a foundational understanding of key concepts, starting with the basics of climate change and carbon's impact on the environment.
