FREE Courses in English. Have you struggled with English and want to improve your skills? If this sounds like you, then South West College, Essential Skills Course in English is for you and best of all, it's FREE! Classes are delivered during the day and in the evening to suit everyone. Classes in English are available from Entry Level through to Level 2 (achievement at Level 2 is comparable to GCSE standard). The classes are designed to help improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening. You will be able to: learn at your own pace, practise how to use the skills you learn in everyday situations, gain qualifications that employers will recognise.
All students are required to complete an Initial Assessment prior to enrolment. This enables us to place learners on the most appropriate Essential Skills level to support their development and progression.
The course is advertised as Level 2; however, depending on the assessment outcome, students may begin at Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2.
If you are not a native English speaker check out our English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses on the website. You will find more information here ESOL
