Get Global

Welcome to the Get Global gateway at South West College (SWC)—your central hub for expanding your horizons, enhancing your employability, and experiencing the world. At SWC, we believe that education should have no borders. Whether you are seeking a short-term cultural exchange or a multi-week professional work placement, our international programmes are designed to equip you with the "global graduate" skills—adaptability, cultural intelligence, and resilience—that top employers demand in today’s interconnected economy.

Core International Opportunities

Explore our primary mobility pathways tailored to various disciplines and career goals:

    Erasmus+

Continuing our long-standing tradition of European collaboration, the Erasmus+ programme provides opportunities for students to undertake vocational training and study blocks in partnership with leading European institutions.

    The Turing Scheme

As the UK’s flagship global mobility initiative, the Turing Scheme offers funded placements across the globe. Recent SWC students have travelled as far as Aruba, Iceland, and Canada to gain hands-on experience in sectors ranging from Sustainable Construction to Hospitality and Social Media Marketing.

      Visit China (Confucius Institute)

As a designated Confucius Hub, SWC offers students the transformative "Visit China" programme. This includes a unique summer study tour where students can immerse themselves in Mandarin language studies and Chinese culture, with significant funding covering in-country costs like accommodation and tuition.

      DFHERIS Opportunities via Wild Atlantic-Netherlands

In collaboration with the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS) and the Wild Atlantic Travel Co, this specialised pathway provides high-impact vocational placements in the Netherlands. Currently we offer this programme to immerse students in industry-leading Dutch sport & exercise practices.
