Overview

The Level 3 Plumbing & Heating qualification has been developed for delivery in a working environment. This means you need to be employed to study this qualification. The course has been designed to develop and recognise your skills, knowledge and competence so that you can work as a plumber or progress onto further study.

This course covers the essential knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in domestic plumbing and heating. Areas of study include domestic hot and cold water systems, central heating systems, sanitation systems and environmental technologies.

The Level 3 Plumbing and Heating qualification is aimed as anyone who has completed the Level 2 qualification, or who already has significant relevant experience and knowledge.

The course is assessed through on-line exams, written design assignments, practical tasks in the workshop and on-site assessment.

On completion students can progress onto Higher Education courses at Level 4/5 or a Foundation Degree programme including the Foundation Degree in Building Services and Sustainable Energy validated by The Open University, or the Foundation Degree in Construction Engineering with Surveying validated by Ulster University.

Students must be in full time employment throughout the completion of the Level 3 course. You will be required to complete Essential Skills Literacy, Numeracy and ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C or Level 2 Essential Skills in English, Maths and Information Technology. All students will be given opportunity to participate in external skills competitions. social excursions and educational trips.
