Overview

This programme is designed to prepare you for a wide range of careers within Construction Engineering and Surveying, including Building, Land and Quantity Surveying, Project Management and Site Engineering. You will develop a holistic understanding of construction, acquiring cutting-edge technical skills and knowledge essential for success in the modern, digital Construction Industry. The curriculum emphasises both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, ensuring you are well-equipped to meet industry demands. Throughout your studies, you will gain practical and professional skills in analysis, organisation, design, teamwork and communications. On completion of this programme, you may choose to progress to an Honours Degree top-up in Construction or commence employment or self-employment, supported by a broad and varied knowledge base, covering all aspects of the construction Industry.

The programme’s modules provide a broad basis for Construction Engineering. Modules include Digital Construction encompassing Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) and Building Information Modelling (BIM), Measurement, Law and Contract, Project Management and Surveying Technology. These are further supported by supplementary modules in Mathematics, Structures, Materials, and Comfort, ensuring that you gain both technical depth and interdisciplinary breadth. A group project forms an integral part of the assessment where you will take a chosen project from inception through to completion, synthesising the knowledge and skills that you have acquired across all modules. This practical experience is designed to mirror current industry practice, enabling you to apply your learning to real-world scenarios and develop essential teamwork and project delivery skills.

As a Higher Level Apprentice you will study these modules over three years (two semesters per year). All modules are mandatory.
