Celine McCartan, Principal and Chief Executive of South West College congratulated the players on their achievement:
“The commitment shown by our students who participate in team sports, along with the dedication of their coaches, is truly admirable. The physical, mental, and social benefits of sport during college life are well recognised, and this victory has sparked a deep sense of pride across the SWC community.
“This is a truly proud moment for SWC. The determination, teamwork, and spirit demonstrated by this group of students have set a powerful example for future generations. Bringing the Corn na Mac Léinn Cup home for the first time is a moment that will be remembered and celebrated for years to come.”
Gratitude was also extended during the evening to all those who supported the team throughout their journey. Special thanks were given to the Kiltimagh Park Hotel for their hospitality, Shaun Doherty (Elevate Kids), Fermanagh GAA, Kieran McGrath, Peter Cassidy, Barry Doherty, and Aoife Groarke for their invaluable contributions. The team also thanked Kevin from Lynch’s Coaches for transportation and acknowledged the generosity of Pat Blake.
Management highlighted the importance of support from the wider SWC community, families, and fans, whose encouragement was instrumental in the team’s All-Ireland success.
This landmark achievement cements South West College’s place in college GAA history and sets a new benchmark for future teams to aspire to. Building on this momentum, SWC will now compete in the prestigious Trench Cup, the second-tier competition in college Gaelic football.
