  • Great British Barber Bash held at SWC

    The Great British Barber Bash (GBBB) showcase events all over the world from Omagh to Dubai, demonstrating the latest barbering techniques to their audience. Two barbers Ryan Cullen from Armagh and Conor Taaffe from Drogheda, are leading the way in barbering, and their success is known all over the world. They held a Barber Bash at South West College, Omagh campus, in which hairdressers and barbers from the Omagh area attended.

  • Students Are Getting Career Ready at McCloskey International

    On Thursday 15th December nine Career Ready students and two staff went to McCloskey International at Coalisland, for a factory visit and master class on interview skills. The students went in two groups around the factory seeing up close as huge crushing, screening and washing machines and conveyors were fabricated.

    On 8th December, twelve Engineering, Science and IT Career Ready students and two tutors took a trip to London for a Capital Experience.  They met at Dungannon Campus car park at 4.30 am, surprisingly bright eyed and chatty but knew it was going to be a long day as they planned to return 10 pm that night.

  • Zambian Students Graduate through South West College Virtual Learning

    Five Zambian students were among the 450 Higher Education students that graduated today at South West College Higher Education ceremony at Omagh Leisure Centre.  The students Francis Mutale, Obedient Kacheche, Patrick Chingaipe, Phales Mizinga, and Zachariah Manda, benefited from South West College’s Virtual Learning programme with support of Direct Aid For Africa (DAFA) and Fatima Secondary School Zambia.

  • SWC Sign Chinese Memorandum of Understanding

    As part of an educational mission to Wuhan City in the Hubei Province of China,South West College and Xiangyang Vocational and Technical College have sign a memorandum of Understanding. The memorandum was signed in Beijing on the 8th December by Malachy McAleer CEO SWC,  李菲 Li Fei, President of Xiangyang College and countersigned by First Minister Arlene Foster MLA.

  • Success for SWC at The Plaisterers’ Training Awards 2016

    The 18th Annual Plaisterers’ Training Awards were held at Plaisterers’ Hall in London. The event was attended by the Lord Mayor, Alderman Lord Moutevans and over 170 other guests. The awards represent the plastering and dry-lining trade, Training Colleges, Independent Training Providers, City Livery Companies. With particular links to organisations actively involved in construction skills training. Daniel McAteer represented South West College; he was nominated by one of his lectures Noel McIntyre, from the Omagh campus.

  • SWC Students Depart for Sweden

    A group of 12 students from South West College are currently attending a three week work placement with their lectures in Helsingborg, Sweden funded through Erasmus+. There are six Childcare Learning Development and six Health and Social Care students from across all three SWC campuses. They were placed in a variety of organisations on their related discipline. Child Care students were placed at an International School in Helsingborg in both pre-primary and primary classes, whilst Health Care students experienced work in three different care homes and special needs centres.

  • EuroSTEAM project made possible after securing Erasmus+ funding.

    South West College has been successful in gaining Erasmus+ funding for the EuroSTEAM project. The project kicked off with a partner meeting on 26th October 2016, hosting the participants of the project in South West College Stem Centre in Dungannon. The hosted partners included Italy, Spain, Portugal and Belgium.
