  • South West College IT Trainees Take on Dragons Den

    Fourteen students who enrolled on the OCR Level 2 Cambridge Technical Diploma in IT in the Dungannon campus also chose to study the additional L2 IT Traineeship pilot qualification.  One of the components of this qualification was the completion of a Project Based Learning module which culminated in a very competitive and enthralling Dragons Den event held in Dungannon campus.

  • Jungle Eating Challenge Winners at South West College

    South West College held a ‘Jungle Challenge’ at each campus Open Day, in conjunction with Jungle NI outside Moneymore. The aim of the challenge was to complete an eating task which consisted of 3 courses, starter was jelly buffalo worms and meal worms, main course consisted of a cracker crickets and dessert was to eat an entire grasshopper.

  • IT Trainees Visit Leading Engineering Firm McCloskey International

    A group of Level 2 Cambridge Diploma IT trainees from South West College travelled to McCloskey International to discover more about the crushing and screening plants they design and manufacture, the trainees also learned of the potential Engineering and IT jobs that are available within the company.

  • South West College Staff Volunteer with Mencap

    A group of staff from the South West College volunteered with learning disability charity Mencap recently at their Supported Living Service in Omagh. The volunteering was set up as part of a Staff Development Day at the College and helped Mencap tenants in two of their houses with gardening, weeding, planting and painting fences.

    Timothy Hagan has been titled as Northern Ireland Skill Auto Apprentice of the Year 2017, he will now compete in the UK wide heats of the competition.  Timothy is a Gold Motor Vehicle student at South West College, he is currently working as an apprentice in the Donnelly Group, Dungannon.

    The SkillBuild NI Finals were held recently at Southern Regional College, with the AutoskillsNI Finals for Heavy Vehicle Repair and Light Vehicle Repair held at South West College, Omagh Campus. The competition, which is held annually, showcases the finest apprentices in Northern Ireland.
