A new website for the Green Accelerator Skills Programme (GRASP) has officially launched, providing a central hub for individuals, employers and communities to access a wide range of fully funded green skills training, resources and opportunities.

The platform has been designed to simplify access to courses, training pathways and support services, enabling users to explore programmes aligned with the evolving needs of the construction sector. It also offers tailored information for aspiring learners, industry employers, schools and community members, helping to remove barriers and create clear routes into sustainable careers.

GRASP is a €9.8 million cross-border initiative supported by the PEACEPLUS programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). Led by South West College, the project brings together a strong network of partners including Southern Regional College, North West Regional College, Irish Central Border Area Network (ICBAN), Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board, Donegal Education and Training Board, Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board, Atlantic Technological University and Future Cast.

Developed in response to the growing demand for green skills across the construction industry, the new website will act as a gateway to approximately 50 funded training programmes. These include specialist areas such as domestic retrofit, Passive House design, heat pump installation and maintenance, photovoltaic systems and digital construction technologies.

In addition to course listings, the website highlights key initiatives under the GRASP programme, including the Women into Construction Green Skills Academy, the Labour Activation Green Skills Academy and a Green Skills Schools Outreach Programme. A dedicated section for community members also provides access to Living Smart: Practical Skills for Low‑Carbon Homes resources, supporting individuals to better understand and adopt low-carbon technologies in their homes.

The platform reflects GRASP’s learner-centred approach, offering flexible learning pathways, practical training opportunities and personalised support to ensure participants can gain the skills, qualifications and confidence required to progress within the sector. By working closely with employers and training providers, GRASP ensures that all programmes are relevant, accessible and aligned with real industry needs.

A spokesperson for the GRASP programme said: “The launch of the GRASP website represents a significant step forward in improving access to green skills training across the region. By bringing together courses, resources and support in one place, the platform makes it easier for individuals and businesses to engage with the opportunities available. As the construction sector continues to evolve, initiatives like GRASP are essential in equipping the workforce with the skills needed to meet future demands and support the transition to a low-carbon economy.”

Participants from counties within the PEACEPLUS Programme Region are eligible to apply, including counties Antrim, Armagh, Derry/Londonderry, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone in Northern Ireland, and Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Louth, Monaghan and Sligo in Ireland.

The launch of the website further strengthens GRASP’s cross-border collaboration, supporting the development of a skilled workforce capable of contributing to ambitious net-zero targets for 2030 and 2050, while promoting economic growth and environmental sustainability across the region.
