South West College are pleased to announce the launch of the first innovative Higher Level Apprenticeship Academy with Anamore, a local construction company whose Co-founders are James McCallan and Anthony Marley.

At the Official Launch of Anamore Academy, James McCallan said:

“The building remediation sector is a niche industry within construction. Post-Grenfell, we have seen a huge demand for our services across the UK and increasingly worldwide. This has placed even greater importance on the need for a skilled team and we want to champion home-grown talent here in Northern Ireland, to give local students the practical and technical skills that will give them the foundations to succeed in their chosen career.”

Chief Executive at South West College, Celine McCartan, spoke of the “welcome collaboration between Anamore and the further education sector.”

She added that “South West College is ready to work with Anamore to ensure that all programme participants receive the best possible start to their construction careers.”

Praising the new scheme, Minister for the Economy, Caoimhe Archibald welcomed “the positive collaboration between the further education sector and local business to help provide construction apprentices with knowledge, skills and qualifications in building safety, cladding remediation and other fire safety measures.”

James said “Anamore would like to thank Celine McCartan, Noreen McGirr and Danielle McKelvey for working with Anamore throughout the past few months to get to this point. Thanks also to Minister for the Economy, Caoimhe Archibald for her kind words about our latest collaboration with the further education sector”.
