Funding Support for Students
The overarching aim of the BEng (Hons) Building Services with Sustainable Energy (Top-up) programme is to produce high calibre graduates who shall have obtained the relevant competencies to undertake roles within one of the many disciplines of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Energy.
The programme has been developed to produce professional and competent project managers and engineers equipped with industry relevant technical and managerial skills.
South West College is approved by The Open University as an appropriate organisation to offer higher education programmes leading to Open University validated awards.

This programme aims to produce high quality graduates who wish to top up from a Foundation Degree, HND or equivalent to a BEng (Hons) Building Services with Sustainable Energy (Top-up) programme
English Language Requirements:
Any applicant whose first language is not English should demonstrate their competence in written and spoken English. Usually, the minimum English language entry requirement is IELTS (academic) of 6.0 (with no band score of less than 5.5 in all four elements of the test).
We accept a wide range of alternative English language examinations and tests so please contact us for an updated list of other accepted tests.
Assessment of core modules will typically be by a combination of Course Work, Professional Report(s), Presentation(s) and Examinations.
*The minimum overall pass mark of 40% is required to be achieved in all modules.
Upon successful completion of the BEng (Hons) Building Services with Sustainable Energy (Top-up) programme, graduates may consider entering employment within the mechanical, electrical or energy industries or continuing to study by applying for a place on a post-graduate programme e.g. MSc. in another institution, subject to individual programme requirements.
2026/27 fees:
Full-Time: £4,800 p.a.
Part-Time: £350 per 20-credit module. £700 for 40-credit dissertation module
HLA: N/A
International Student Fees
Full Time: £9,500 p.a.
Other Fees Associated with the Course
During your programme you may be required to purchase course textbooks or specific software and incur additional costs for printing, photocopying and binding. The overall additional costs incurred to support your studies may be in the region of £100.
Teaching Delivery Statement
The teaching and learning strategy within this programme will comprise of face-to-face delivery (with an element of blended learning support). All methods used have the full agreement of students, external examiners and awarding body partners.
