Funding Support for Students
This course is aimed at those who would benefit from a knowledge of BIM software, in this case Autodesk Revit. Students learn through hands on activities, and tutor led practical demonstrations of the software in use. Skills Focus funding available towards course fees for eligible employers to up skill staff or for self employed students. Please ask for further details.
Students typically create a 3-D architectural model of a chosen project which can be used not only for rendering and animation purposes, but also to create working drawings and enable collaborative working on a project. BIM is fast becoming the industry standard and the basic knowledge gained through completion of this course ensures students maintain an edge in the market. Students will focus on the practical use of the package, with all the functions needed to create a usable model of their chosen building. There will be an opportunity to investigate the emergence of BIM software and implications for the sector.
There are no formal entry requirements, however, students are expected to have a good knowledge of CAD, and interest or experience in the construction sector.
Assessment is entirely based on the phased submission of a portfolio of evidence, some written, but mostly based on the overall architectural model created.
