Funding Support for Students
This course is aimed at those who would benefit from a knowledge of Building Information Modelling BIM software, in this case Autodesk Revit. Students learn through hands on activities, and tutor led practical demonstrations of the software in use. Skills Focus funding available towards course fees for eligible employers to up skill staff or for self employed students. Please ask for further details.
This course is delivered in a blended format. Week 1 and 2 will be delivered in a classroom (usually Dungannon campus) this allows you to meet your tutor and ensure your software is downloaded and working on your personal hardware (PC or laptop) before moving to remote delivery. Week 3 - Week 15 can be taken from home with the tutor delivering the lesson live each evening.
Students typically create a 3-D architectural model of a chosen project which can be used not only for rendering and animation purposes, but also to create working drawings and enable collaborative working on a project. Building Information Modelling BIM is fast becoming the industry standard and the basic knowledge gained through completion of this course ensures students maintain an edge in the market.
Students will focus on the practical use of the package, with all the functions needed to create a usable model of their chosen building. There will be an opportunity to investigate the emergence of BIM software and implications for the sector.
There are no formal entry requirements, however, students are expected to have
a good knowledge of AutoCAD, and interest or experience in the construction sector.
Assessment is entirely based on the phased submission of a portfolio of evidence, some written, but mostly based on the overall architectural model created.
Please note it is not necessary to upload evidence of your qualifications for this course as there is no minimum entry criteria. The only entry criteria we ask for is that you are IT literate, have knowledge of drawing packages and have an interest in the actual course.
