Engineering Training Council Awards

Overview

If you have been using 3D CAD independently or have completed the level 1, then a higher qualification in Computer Aided Design (CAD) could be right for you. CAD modelling is used to manufacture new components/prototypes in a variety of areas including engineering, dental, food production and medical industries etc. Many new technologies are being utilised such as 3-D printing and additive manufacturing in a wide range of industries to produce functional products for consumer use. These technologies require the ability to take a design and create a 3-D computer based model. Such models can then be used via the 3-D printing machines to produce a prototype and/or real functional components.

The ETCAL PEO Producing CAD Models (Drawings) Using a CAD System unit will help you develop a broad range of basic competences to prepare and produce CAD models (drawings) using a CAD system. You will use a modelling tool such as surface modelling, solid modelling or wire frame modelling to produce a model with a range of features for export to a manufacturing system such as CNC machine, 3D printer or specific system.
