Funding Support for Students
The qualification focuses on the technical skills and knowledge required to be a professional dental nurse. Units of study include direct chair side work and support during a range of dental treatments, organizational and legal requirements which underpin high quality dental care and the role of the dental nurse in meeting patients’ needs. This course meets the requirements of the General Dental Council (GDC) for Dental Nursing. *Course duration is 18 months (delivered over two academic years).
Course Modules:
Applicants must be over 16.
Students will attend one full day of directed training; this will be blended learning online and face-to-face on campus.
If students do not have Level 2 Essential Skills in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT (or equivalent), this will be a mandatory element of the course.
Working in a dental practice – 14 hours per week minimum.
Workplace mentor: GDC registered
The course is assessed through work place observations, completion of a trainee portfolio of evidence and by examination.
This course meets the requirements of the General Dental Council (GDC) for Dental Nursing.
This course comprises the Competence and Knowledge Based Qualification for the ApprenticeshipNI in Dental Nursing.
