A Dual Qualification, combining two qualifications Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science (equivalent to 2 A-Levels) and Level 3 Extended Certificate in Applied Science (equivalent to 1 A-Level), which provides a well-rounded education in both sport and exercise science and applied science, equipping students with a diverse skill set and a wide range of career opportunities.

The content of this qualification has been developed in consultation with academics to ensure that it supports progression to higher education. Employers and professional bodies have also been involved and consulted to confirm that the content is appropriate and consistent with current practice for learners who may choose to enter employment directly.

BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science (equivalent to 2 A-Levels) is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices in sport and exercise science. It combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for higher education and careers in the sport, health, and fitness careers.

BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Applied Science (equivalent to 1 A-Level) provides a solid foundation in biology, chemistry, and physics. The course emphasises practical laboratory skills, scientific investigation, and applied science concepts relevant to various scientific careers.

The minimum requirement for entry is 4 GCSE’s (Grade A*-C or equivalent), including GCSE Science and or Physical Education.

Places on the course are limited, so it may be necessary to enhance the entry requirements in the event of over subscription.
