Funding Support for Students
This course is designed to prepare students for the Passive House Institute Certified European PassivHaus Designer’s (CEPH) exam. It is appropriate for construction industry professionals and contractors. Skills Focus funding available towards course fees for eligible employers to up skill staff or for self employed students. Please ask for further details.
Passivhaus Designer course fee is £740* and exam fee is £260, total cost £1,000**.
Department for Economy Skills Focus* funding is available towards the £740 *course fee for eligible employers and Flexible Skills**funding is available to cover the full fee £1,000** for eligible students.
From April 2024 this will reduce the course fee to £143 plus £260 exam fee, plus PHPP software cost.

Using our Passive House building, Air Tightness, MVHR units and accredited materials, students will gain practical experience in the Passive House discipline. This will be coupled with knowledge of Accredited Materials, Products, SketchUP and PassivHaus Planning Package* software.
NOTE *each student must have access to the PHPP software before enrolling for the Designer exam. Approximate cost is 270 euro. Contact Linda for more details linda.clarke@swc.ac.uk
The course is delivered over 2 calendar weeks, either 9am - 5pm or 4pm - 9pm, in a blended model either from our Enniskillen or Dungannon campus or on-line in a Microsoft Teams classroom. The delivery schedule will be available prior to the course start date so that you can confirm that the dates, times and venue are convenient before enrolling onto the next available course. Note - the dates of delivery listed below may change prior to the course start date. A degree in a construction related discipline. Mature candidates will be assessed on an individual basis.
This course culminates in a 3 hour PHI externally set exam, which leads to Certified Designer/Consultant.
The Chartered Professional can become a PH Designer, those with industry experience can achieve PH Consultant.
The course is delivered by qualified Passive House Designers and Trainers who have a range of construction industry experience. We have a wide range of facilities such as demonstration models of airtightness and MVHR units to demonstrate the practical aspects of the course and accredited materials and products for familiarization. We have licensed PHPP software and the SketchUp Designer plugin from the Passive House Institute for use during the course in the PHPP unit.
