MoT centres across Northern Ireland employ 451 people - just 21 of them are women, figures obtained by BBC News NI show. Female apprentices training at South West College said attitudes in the industry are changing but some remain out-dated.

South West College Carpentry and Joinery lecturer Jimmy Martin has been awarded the prestigious Hugh Gettinby Best Trainer/Lecturer Award at this year’s SkillBuild NI Regional Competition. Jimmy, based at the SWC Technology and Skills Centre Enniskillen, was recognized for his excellence in construction training.
