On Wednesday 9 March, a congregation of more than 500 people came together between two venues at the Strule Arts Centre and the Colleges Omagh Campus, to celebrate the Higher Education successes of South West College (SWC) students. Joined together with family, friends and tutors, the ceremony celebrated the efforts and academic achievements of the ‘Class of 2021’.

Looking to advance her career, adult learner Roisin Meenagh chose to return to Higher Education at South West College (SWC) to study a Higher Level Apprenticeship (HLA) Foundation Degree in Engineering and progressed to studying a BEng (Hons) Degree in Engineering (Top Up) at South West College, part time.

Lauryn McDermott, from Newtownbutler who studies a Level 3 Hairdressing apprenticeship at the new South West College Erne Campus and is employed with Daniel Anthony’s Salon in Enniskillen, says her experience as an apprenticeship has allowed her to make strides in the hairdressing industry that she couldn’t previously have imagined.

Alex Pritchard, from Enniskillen, who studied Business Studies at South West College (SWC), is now studying a PGCE in Business at Manchester Metropolitan University, and as she looks back at her time at SWC, she is grateful to her former tutors for helping her fall in love with Business Studies and with the idea of a career in teaching.

The Erne Campus was host to the first annual South West College (SWC) battle of the scientists, on Thursday 3rd March 2022. Science students from Enniskillen, Omagh and Dungannon campuses descended on the state-of-the-art labs at Erne to match wits and skills to be crowned the SWC Inter-Campus Science World Skills Day Champions for 2022.
