On Wednesday, October 11, South West College (SWC) Erne Campus extended a warm welcome to attendees from Iðan Education Centre, Iceland, as part of an ERASMUS+ Staff Mobility Trip. The visit signifies a commitment to strengthening ties and exploring further collaboration between the two institutions, while also promoting international education and fostering global partnerships within the academic community.

ERASMUS+, the European Union's flagship programme for education, training, youth, and sport, has brought together SWC and Iðan Education Centre, to facilitate an exchange of expertise and experiences.

During their visit attendees had the unique opportunity to learn about the unique features of the Erne campus building, delving into sustainability and the pioneering work that SWC has been doing to enhance its green credentials on an international scale. Engaging in collaborative workshops and seminars, participants shared their unique insights and teaching methodologies, sharing best practices across a wide range of curriculum areas. They also immersed themselves in the vibrant culture and educational practices of the region, fostering cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.

Celine McCartan Chief Executive and Principal of South West College said “We were honoured to welcome our partners from Iðan Education Centre for the ERASMUS+ Staff Mobility Trip.

“The visit exemplified the importance of global cooperation in education and the shared goal of preparing students for an increasingly interconnected world. We are confident that this collaboration will be mutually beneficial, bringing new perspectives and ideas to both institutions. We look forward to future collaborations that continue to promote international education and foster global partnerships.”

Accommodated at the picturesque Killyhevlin Hotel from October 10 to 11, the group of 28 international guests also had the opportunity to explore the surroundings of Enniskillen and the local area, gaining a deeper understanding of the local context and community.
