Overview

This course is suited to students interested in learning the skills to become an aromatherapist. The course covers the theory and practical application of aromatherapy. You will gain knowledge in 40 essential oils, 18 carrier oils, as well making products. Students will be trained in a realistic working environment in the college’s state of art salons. Students will experience the commercial salon and will engage with customers.

Where applicable this qualification will develop your knowledge and understanding of the principles and business practice for complementary therapies. Furthermore, you will learn about anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies. You will also develop your understanding and practical skills to competently provide aromatherapy massage treatment.

Year One

  • The Principles and Practice of Complementary Therapies (Erne Campus Only)
  • Business practice for Complementary Therapies (Erne Campus Only)
  • Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies (Erne Campus Only)
  • Provide Aromatherapy for Complementary Therapies (All Campuses)
  • Unit :

Students will be expected to have:-

  • Level 3 Award in Body Massage or equivalent. (All Campuses)
  • VTCT/City and Guilds Unit -The Principles and Practice of Complementary Therapies (DGN and OMA)
  • VTCT/City and Guilds Unit - Business practice for Complementary Therapies (DGN and OMA)
  • VTCT/City and Guilds Unit - Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies (DGN and OMA)

A combination of practical observations, 60 case histories, written and an on-line theory test are used to assess this qualification.

Students who successfully complete this course can enrol in other Complementary Therapy courses. Students will also be eligible to enter into employment in Beauty Salons, Health Clinic or Spa setting.

This course will be delivered and assessed in one year.

Students will be required to purchase a uniform and kit on commencement of the programme.

If you do not hold a VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID-19) for Complementary Therapies and Sports Massage qualification you will be required to enrol, this will incur an additional cost.
