The course supports learner skills and knowledge development for the following pathways:
You will learn Health and Safety in Engineering, how to read and take engineering instructions in order to carryout engineering activities including the following:
Produce the following MIG welds to specification in the Flat and Horizontal Vertical and Vertical position
Produce components to specification using such things as:
Produce plate work components and assemblies using the following processes:
Essential Skills and Broader transferable skills in preparation and to support working in an engineering environment.
Note: Technology And Skills Centre, Enniskillen apprentices have the additional optional of an Electrical Engineering pathway, activities including the following:
As opposed to the Fabrication and Welding pathway
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however, learners must have the potential to successfully gain the qualification. The minimum age requirement for this qualification is 16 plus.
The Mandatory units are assessed by an online multiple-choice assessment. The practical units are assessed by short answer question papers and practical tasks completed in the college workshops.
Completion of Level 2 Engineering enables career progression to Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering in the following disciplines:
Additional units can be undertaken to support company/job requirements.
