Following its success, the South West College (SWC) Get Engineering Careers and Apprenticeship Fair is set to return, taking place at the Dungannon campus on Saturday 28 March, from 9.30am to 1.30pm, bringing together over 30 local employers ready to showcase career and apprenticeship opportunities.

With Mid-Ulster home to a cluster of leading engineering firms responsible for much of the world’s materials handling equipment, this vibrant careers event will showcase a variety of local employers. Attendees will have the opportunity to see a wide range of machinery and equipment that is manufactured locally and exported globally.

The event will feature live demonstrations and interactive workshops, including a chance to test drive the world’s first truly collaborative robot, YuMi. Other demonstrations will cover cutting-edge topics such as 3D scanning, rapid prototyping, robotic welding, virtual welding, automation, and Industry 4.0, providing prospective students with hands-on insight into the ever-evolving engineering sector.

This free event offers the chance to meet with over 30 employers from the advanced manufacturing and engineering industries. Employers will discuss entry routes, career opportunities, Apprenticeships, and Higher-Level Apprenticeships, giving attendees an invaluable look at local pathways into engineering careers.

Prospective students can also explore degree opportunities, ‘Earn while you Learn’ Apprenticeships, and Higher-Level Apprenticeships in areas including Business Management, Engineering, and Computing and more, and hear from current apprentices about how their Apprenticeship has benefited them.

Additionally, employer exhibition stands will provide insights into careers such as design engineers, technical service engineers, welders/fabricators, CNC operators, and engineering business support roles. SWC staff will also be available to provide guidance and support, helping visitors make informed decisions about their future.

The Get Engineering Careers and Apprenticeship Fair is an ideal opportunity for post-16 learners, parents/guardians, and anyone seeking to enter or advance within the engineering sector to explore the campus, meet staff, and discover SWC’s full-time, part-time, and Apprenticeship course provision, now open for applications for courses starting September 2026.
