South West College Automotive Students Excel in WorldSkills Intercampus Competition 2025 03 Mar 2025 South West College (SWC) automotive apprentices and trainees recently showcased their exceptional skills in the annual WorldSkills Intercampus Competition 2025. The event, hosted at SWC, brought together students from Omagh, Dungannon, and Enniskillen to compete across various automotive categories, demonstrating their technical expertise and dedication to their profession. The competition saw students at Dungannon campus put their knowledge to the test in Automotive Technology Light Vehicle Repair (LVR), while at Omagh campus, competitors excelled in Heavy Vehicle Technology (HVR) and Land Based Engineering. Each participant undertook a timed skills test, receiving a certificate of achievement, with category winners announced in each trade area. Christopher Robinson, Head of Work-Based Learning at SWC, commended the students on their dedication and success: "The Intercampus WorldSkills competitions are an incredible opportunity for our students to demonstrate their technical abilities and gain recognition for their skills. The standard of work produced reflects the exceptional training provided at South West College and the dedication of students, staff and their employers. A huge thank you to the lecturers, technicians, managers, support staff, and employers who have helped prepare our apprentices and trainees for this event." The Intercampus Competition serves as the initial stage in selecting champions who will progress to the Regional Competitions. Here, top-performing students will compete against peers from other Further Education Colleges across Northern Ireland, with the potential to advance to national and even international levels.
