The Launch of the new South West College Professional Cookery Apprenticeship took place in Enniskillen on Tuesday 4th February, as chefs from the local industry joined college students and tutors to showcase the new opportunities available to young people with ambitions in the catering industry.

The Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Awards 2020 took place on Thursday 6 February at the Titanic Hotel, Belfast, with South West College student, Colleen O’Boyle, announced as joint-winner of the Higher Level Apprentice Award.
Further to the successful partnership with Glasgow-based GTG Training, BPW has now partnered with South West College (SWC), Omagh. This appointment ensures that BPW customers in Northern Ireland now have local access to the same level of training offered by BPW engineers at the Head Office in Leicester.

South West College (SWC) Automotive apprentice Billie-Jo McKenzie is hoping to demonstrate her skills on both the European and World stages following her selection to Squad UK for the EuroSkills Competition in Graz, Austria and the international WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai.

Tuesday 11th December marked a significant date in the calendar for South West College students and staff - Graduation Day - the highlight of the Higher Education academic year with over 600 students conferred during a ceremony at Omagh Leisure Centre.

The South West College Renewable Engine Programme has been involved in an international collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast and Sultan Oaboos University in Oman to convert leftover grain from breweries into carbon, which could be used as a renewable fuel for homes in winter, charcoal for summer barbecues or water filters in developing countries. The project was funded by EPSRC and The Bryden Centre at Queen’s.

The Confucius Classroom Hub at South West College (SWC) has been awarded commended status from the AoC Beacon Awards as an 'outstanding example of a college’s ability to embed internationalisation across the college, wider regional educational system and the business community.'
The new Manufacturing Support Programme launched at South West College (SWC) Dungannon on Friday 22nd November. The initiative has been developed by SWC in conjunction with manufacturing companies from the Fermanagh Omagh and Mid Ulster District Council areas.
