South West College (SWC) has officially welcomed hundreds of new students across its Cookstown, Omagh, Dungannon, and Enniskillen campuses this week, marking the start of the 2025/26 academic year.

Queues formed early as new students arrived for their first day at SWC, ready to begin a wide range of academic and vocational programmes, including Further Education, Traineeships, Essential Skills and Work-Based Learning at Levels 1–3.

Throughout the week, students explored the college’s dynamic learning environment, meeting lecturers, discovering facilities and connecting with peers. From modern classrooms to vibrant extracurricular activities, SWC offers a supportive space for students to thrive.

Induction activities, delivered by staff, included course briefings, campus tours, introductions to key services and team-building events as well as a complimentary pick ’n’ mix. Many students described their first day as “enjoyable” and “welcoming,” praising the friendly atmosphere and informative sessions.

Celine McCartan, Principal and Chief Executive of South West College, said:

“We are delighted to welcome a new generation of learners to South West College. The start of the academic year is always an exciting time, and we recognise the importance of this moment for our students and their families.

"With a focus on academic excellence, personal development, and inclusion, SWC provides a dynamic learning environment where students can thrive. As they begin their journey, we encourage all our learners to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead. The relationships they form and the skills they gain here will shape their futures in powerful ways.”

South West College is still accepting applications for both full and part time courses. Prospective students are encouraged to visit www.swc.ac.uk/courses or contact their nearest campus for advice and enrolment information or email admissions@swc.ac.uk
