Funding Support for Students
This course is suited to students interested in learning the skills to become a sports massage practitioners. Students will be trained in a realistic working environment in the college’s state of the art salons. Students will experience the commercial salon and will engage with customers.
The structure of the qualification is comprised of 5 units which are all mandatory.
- Anatomy and physiology for sports massage
- Principles of health and fitness
- Understand the principles of soft tissue dysfunction
- Professional practice in sports massage
- Sports massage treatments
A Level 3 qualification in Massage, Sports Studies or equivalent is desirable.
A combination of practical observations, written and an on-line theory test are used to assess this qualification.
Students who successfully complete the Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage and will be able to gain employment as a Level 3 Sports massage practitioner, providing pre, post, intra/inter and maintenance massage. This may include working in clinics, for sporting teams or as a mobile therapist. This may be in an employed or self-employed context. Students will be able to progress onto the VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage.
This course will be delivered and assessed in one year.
Students will be required to purchase a uniform and kit – Polo shirt Approximate cost £25.
