This qualification recognises learners' understanding of complex administrative functions and activities. It accredits learners' abilities to carry out a range of non-routine administrative tasks in a senior or supervisory role and has been designed to accredit their achievements in a modern, practical way that is relevant to the work context. The qualification is flexible, allowing learners to choose individual units that best fit their needs and level of achievement.
This is a one year course if a learner has already achieved the Level 2 Diploma but will take two years for someone without Level 2. Learners will complete compulsory units: Producing Complex Business Documents; Understanding Functions and Roles within Business Organisations; along with a number of additional units such as: Supporting Recruitment and Selection Procedures; Verbal Communication in Business; Support Business Meetings and Working in an Administrative Team. Additional word processing qualifications and computerised bookkeeping may also be offered. Learners who do not possess GCSE English and Maths upon entry will be required to undertake Essential Skills qualifications.
Learners should have completed the OCN NI Level 2 Certificate or Diploma in Administration. Entry is subject to a successful interview.
Assessment will focus mainly on coursework assignments, practical projects and testing practical skills. Formal examinations will be required for word processing and computerised bookkeeping.
This programme affords opportunities for progression to further learning within the general administration suite such as the Level 4 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Administration or related areas. Learners may also wish to seek employment in administrative roles as this qualification provides evidence of substantial achievement of a range of practical skills as well as of underpinning knowledge and understanding of administration.
