This Retrofit course has been developed to up-skill and re-skill the workforce in the skills and knowledge required to meet the demands of the construction industry and local and regional employers.
The learner will gain knowledge and skills relating to the following:
The course will provide an overview of how to retrofit a domestic or small commercial building looking at the concepts of Airtightness, Insulation and Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery.
Students should have an interest or experience in the construction trade sector and sufficient maths and English to successfully undertake the course. Students must be at least 16 years old.
The course will be assessed through practical work in a workshop or lab setting, and written assessment.
To enable students to progress to higher level construction related qualifications in retrofit skills for the needs of industry, including Open University Foundation Degree in Building Services with Sustainable Energy.
