Funding Support for Students
This Foundation Degree prepares you for a career in Hospitality and Tourism Management. It focuses on acquisition and application of knowledge relevant to the role of the manager in the global hospitality industry. Through work-based learning, the course provides opportunities to develop and enhance your practical, personal and interpersonal skills vital to successful performance in the workplace. On completion, you will be equipped to operate in a management role in the industry.
Students are highly encouraged to take part in educational visits throughout the course. These experiences aim to enhance learning and provide meaningful insights into potential career opportunities and pathways to higher education. Please note that each visit may require an additional travel fee.
Full time - This course is delivered over 2 years.
Part time - This course is delivered over 2.5 years, with work based learning taking place in semester 3 of year 1 and 2.
You will gain an understanding of the underpinning theory of tourism, hospitality, and events management from a global perspective. You will also have the opportunity to develop skills required to work effectively as a manager in this industry.
Successful completion of the programme requires learners to achieve 240 CATS points from modules studied including: Introduction to Tourism Hospitality and Events, Management in Action, Managing Financial Performance, Events Operations, Personal Professional Development, Work Based Learning, People Management and Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
The selection of optional modules available varies based on the specialised pathway chosen by the student. Tourism pathway: Inbound and Domestic Tourism, Global Travel Destinations, Global Tourism Management. Hospitality pathway: Food and Beverage Service Operations; Facility Operations, Food and Beverage Management. Events Pathway: Global and Cultural Events, Corporate Events, Contemporary Events Management,

Four GCSE passes at C/04, including English and Maths or equivalent. Two A Levels or equivalent. Refer to general entry requirements.
Where an applicant does not hold the formal academic requirements for entry to the programme but can demonstrate relevant experiential learning across a range of industries, they may apply for admission through the College Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) process. In such cases, contact the Course Director for the programme who will advise further.
To be eligible to commence study on the HLA Pathway, applicants must have secured full-time paid employment in a relevant hospitality or tourism sector.
Course International Entry Requirements:
International students (for whom English is not their first language), must demonstrate their competence in written and spoken English at IELTS – Academic 6.0, with minimum 5.5 in all four elements of the test. Trinity ISE - Pass at Level 3 (with a Pass in each component) also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.
Assessment will take the form of written assignments, written reports, presentations using digital technology and class tests. Learners will complete a period of Work Based Learning and complete a project whilst on placement.
On completion of the course successful learners may progress to Honours Degrees such as International Tourism Management at Ulster University. Summer bridging options for final year entry are possible subject to academic performance and mapping of modules or pathway undertaken. Learners can progress into employment in a wide variety of organisations at junior or duty management level.
Note: It is the responsibility of the applicant to check each University’s admission and progression requirements before enrolling on a course at the College.
2025/26 fees:
Full-time: £2,800 (payable for each year)
Part-Time: £285 per 20-credit module and £570 per 40-credit module
HLA: N/A
During your course you may be required to purchase course textbooks and incur additional costs for uniform, field trips, printing, photocopying and binding. The overall additional costs incurred to support your studies may be in the region of £100 or more per year.
