Overview

This 14-week course is about working with the gel nail system. During the course you will learn how to consult and communicate with your client, analyse their nails and skin, make clear recommendations with a detailed treatment plan, prepare the nail and apply the gel nail system. You will also learn about health, safety and hygiene, which must be adhered to throughout each treatment, and the chemical processes.

This course is ideal for a beginner in the beauty industry. It is also suitable for a hairdresser, beauty therapist or make-up artist wanting to expand their skill set.

Students who do not hold a qualification in hairdressing/beauty will need to undertake a unit in health and safety at an additional fee of £45. Students will be required to purchase a uniform and a waxing kit is recommended.

This unique course allows you to develop skills in gel nail extensions and maintenance.

Year One

  • Provide and maintain nail enhancements

If you do not hold a current Health & Safety Award you will be required to enrol, this will incur an additional cost.

A combination of practical observations, written and an on-line theory test are used to assess this qualification.

Students who successfully complete this qualification may choose to undertake further study; qualifications you could progress to include Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy, Level 2 and 3 in Make-up. In the area of nails, skills can be further developed in courses such as e-filing and nail art.

Students who successfully complete this suite of qualifications can progress into employment in Beauty Salons or freelance work.

This course will be delivered and assessed in 14 weeks. Students will be required to purchase a uniform and kit on commencement of the programme.
