Funding Support for Students
This qualification is about providing manicure services to clients. It covers consulting with the client, recognising any contra-indications, preparing for the service and producing a service plan. It also covers filing and buffing the nails, using skin and cuticle treatments, massaging the hand and lower arm and providing a suitable nail finish.
Students who do not hold a qualification in hairdressing/beauty will need to undertake a unit in health & safety at an additional fee of £23.
You will learn how to correctly carry out a manicure to industry standards and within a commercially acceptable time. The nail finishes covered in this qualification are dark polish and French polish.

A combination of practical observations and an on-line theory test are used to assess this qualification.
Students who successfully complete this qualification may choose to undertake further study; qualifications you could progress to include Level 2 Award in LED Gel Polish, Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty Therapy General, Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Nail Services or Level 3 qualification in Nail Technology.
