South West College was the chosen venue for the first networking meeting of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) recently, and was attended by academics from across Northern Ireland.
The primary focus of the event, organised by Curriculum Manager for South West College, Yvonne Megahey, was to develop CIPD across Centres in Northern Ireland. The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development is the professional body for those involved in the management and development of people. John McGurk, Head of CIPD Scotland and Northern Ireland, and Alexandra Carr, CIPD Centre Development Manager, provided information on the purpose of developing centres, nurturing positive change and championing growth.
Yvonne Megahey said “Organising this event was an important first step to meet and greet with people from other centres in NI, so standardisation and sharing good practice can be achieved. This networking event has enabled us to develop CIPD in the College with new qualifications coming on board in the next academic year.”
South West College currently offer the CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management, on a part-time basis, one evening per week. Additional qualifications from CIPD, will be added to the college course portfolio for the new academic year, including Level 3 in Human Resources Practice.
