  • Student Governor Clara Helps 'Give a Voice' to Students at South West College

    Student Governor Clara Jane Whitley, from Monea, Derrygonnelly, has been passionate about the student voice at South West College ever since she first enrolled in 2018. Clara, who studies a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design in Enniskillen, first embarked on her journey in student representation by becoming a class representative in 2018, before eventually being nominated by her peers for the Student Governor position in October 2020.

  • Ruth turns College Course into a Lifelong Ambition

    Ruth Johnston, a mum of three, returned to education as a mature student at South West College (SWC) in June 2012. Hoping to pursue a future career in childcare, Ruth enrolled on a two-year vocational BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Children’s Care Learning and Development. This course offers individuals a vocational pathway aligning with the knowledge and skills that employers seek and allowed Ruth to pursue her studies close to her home in Ballynakelly, Coalisland. Fast forward to 2021, and after her studies and despite the worldwide pandemic, Ruth is ready to embark on her next venture as a registered childminder.

  • Award Winning Student Thankful for Culture of Creativity at South West College

    Omagh screenwriter and former South West College (SWC) student, Aidan McAleer, won three screenwriting awards last year. Aidan won 'Best First-time Screenwriter' at the Kosice International Monthly Film Festival; 'Best Feature Script' at the Prague International Monthly Film Festival'; and ‘Best Screenplay' at the Canadian Cinematography Awards, for his screenplay, 'Forgiven', which tells an emotional story of accidental manslaughter and the swirling guilt and aftermath that follows it.
