Past student Grace Mallon spotted a gap in the market for out-of-school childcare provision in her local area and has recently taken the leap to start her own business.

The Kool Kidz out-of-schools club provides a nurturing and fun learning environment for children from primary one to primary seven and offers school collections from four local primary schools in the Moy area.

As as well as providing after-schools care, Grace has been able to develop highly engaging Easter and Summer Schemes to help support parents who are busy or working during school holidays. After leaving school Grace studied Level 3 Children’s Care, Learning and Development, then progressed to the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Children’s Care, Learning and development qualification which is an excellent progression option for those who wish to get involved with leading or managing a childcare business. Having excelled through her Diploma, Grace was right on track to provide fresh, new childcare facilities locally.

“My advice for someone wanting to open their own childcare business is to go for it. It’s hard work, and you go through so many emotions, but the feeling of achievement when the doors open is surreal, so don’t hold back.”
