Delivery With A Difference At Dungannon LRC

Early Years Lecturer, Fey Cole, Pops In For a Chat About Published Book.

The Library within the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) at Dungannon Campus had a delivery with a difference this week, as the most recent book to hit the shelves was written by one of our own members of staff. Fey Cole, Deputy Head of School for Health and Social Care, is an expert on Intergenerational Practice within schools, and has recently had a book published about the topic.

The timing was extremely fitting, as this week also marks Global Intergenerational Week. This week inspires individuals, groups and organisations to embrace the practice of bringing all age groups together and offers a creative and effective new way of connecting generations .

LRC Coordinator, Melissa Grimes, invited Fey to visit as copies of her book were added to the shelves

Fey Cole says

"The LRC is a great resource for both students and staff. Whether it be training, one to one support, sourcing publications for building your essays, or finding a supportive space to study, the LRC staff are always there to help us and are an integral part of the team supporting students in the FE and HE experience."

"I began my own journey into Early Years as an apprentice at sixteen and I encourage all students to embrace the opportunities that come their way and to believe in themselves as you never know where your vocational learning experience may take you"

The LRC team members Melissa Grimes and Michael Bradley are always there if we have a query and are able to tailor programmes to suit the needs of student groups.

The LRCs exist to support the information needs of all members of the College including students and staff   They offer an excellent range of services and facilities designed to provide access to both the latest technology and traditional learning resources. Experienced staff are available to answer enquiries and to help users’ access information and resources.   Please contact your LRC to organise group sessions or 'one to one' support for students or staff on a range of topics including: using digital library resources, research and academic skills, study skills, referencing and plagiarism, accessing books, journals, IT equipment etc.

Fey's book "Intergenerational Practice in Schools and Settings" was published this year. The signed copies can now be found in the SWC Learning Resource Centre in the teaching and education section of the Dungannon Campus.
