Thinking of coming to South West College? Whether you are considering A level equivalent vocational courses, apprenticeships, or higher education courses, we have something for everyone and are now open for applications for all our full time, apprenticeship & undergraduate courses starting in September 2023. Ideal for GCSE and A Level school Leavers as well as those looking to change or advance their career.

There are many reasons why studying locally makes sense. As well as the extensive range of courses available to students on their doorstep, students are also attracted by the smaller class numbers in colleges compared to some schools and universities, which results in greater interaction with the tutor.

In recent years Further and Higher Education Colleges have been credited with providing a more practical approach to learning, with strong employer links and a focus on work placements allowing for more employer led education. Further Education Colleges can also be more affordable, with much lower tuition fees. Higher Education Students also have the option to live at home, reducing the substantial living and maintenance costs that come with moving away.

At SWC, we offer courses from Level 1 through to Level 6 and welcome applications from GCSE and A Level school leavers, mature students, students with qualifications from other countries and those seeking to gain qualifications.

For those who are unsure about which path to take, we encourage prospective students to contact our in-house friendly Careers team, who can offer free impartial advice for prospective students.

Sharon Pritchard, Student Engagement and Support Manager at South West College, said:

“For anyone considering studying with the College, you can apply online using our accessible online application portal, which is available 24/7 and offers prospective students a more convenient way to apply for courses, submit qualifications, view and print course information, and check grade boundaries. Prospective students will also be able to pay directly on the Website for courses which don't require an interview.
