South West College exists to empower people, strengthen communities, and contribute to a thriving, inclusive economy across Fermanagh, Tyrone, and beyond. With over 13,000 learners and more than 700 staff, we play a central role in shaping the skills, innovation, and opportunities that our region needs to prosper.
Our 2025–2028 Strategic Plan sets out a bold but achievable vision for the next three years. Built on our core values of Respect, Accountability, Engagement, and Commitment, the plan focuses on four strategic priorities that will guide our work.
Our learners are at the heart of everything we do. Over the next three years, we will:
Deliver a high-quality, inclusive curriculum aligned with regional economic needs.
Strengthen progression pathways, enabling learners to move seamlessly between levels and into meaningful employment.
Invest in staff development to ensure teaching reflects industry standards and emerging skills.
Enhance learner facilities, extracurricular opportunities, and support services — including for those with additional needs.
Promote well-being, safeguarding, and inclusion, with a focus on ensuring every learner has a voice in shaping their college experience.
We aim to be the partner of choice for employers, industry, academia, and community organisations. Our plan commits us to:
Co-design skills solutions with industry, ensuring our curriculum is relevant and responsive.
Expand apprenticeships and flexible learning models, including pathways for adult learners.
Strengthen our leadership in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering across Northern Ireland.
Build new strategic partnerships to support economic growth, innovation, and entrepreneurship — including through flagship initiatives such as the Enniskillen Workhouse.
Lead and deliver collaborative projects, including PeacePlus, that promote inclusion, innovation, and regional development.
As a recognised leader in sustainability, we will continue to embed environmental and social responsibility at the heart of our operations. We will:
Promote carbon literacy and champion the UN Sustainable Development Goals across our community.
Deliver on our Net Zero Action Plan, making our campuses more energy efficient, enhancing biodiversity, and prioritising sustainable capital investments.
Equip learners, staff, and local businesses with the green skills needed to support the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Expand research and innovation capacity to accelerate the development of sustainable products and processes.
Establish SWC as a beacon for sustainability in both education and industry support.
Strong governance, sound finances, and a values-led culture underpin all our work. Over the next three years, we will:
Maintain robust financial management and ensure long-term stability.
Embrace digital transformation, including investment in secure, innovative technologies such as AI.
Meet the highest standards of accountability, compliance, and quality improvement.
Implement our People Plan, supporting staff development, engagement, and well-being.
Embed a coaching culture that empowers our workforce and strengthens collaboration.
Uphold our values, ensuring that South West College remains a progressive, well-governed institution trusted by learners, staff, and stakeholders alike.
Progress will be reviewed annually to ensure we remain aligned with regional priorities and new opportunities. With learners at the centre and our communities as partners, South West College is committed to:
