In recognition for International Women in Engineering Day, The School of Engineering at South West College (SWC) are set to celebrate women in Engineering with an exciting one-day Taster Session Event on Friday, 24 June, at the SWC, Dungannon Campus, STEM centre, from 11 am to 2:15 pm. To register your attendance, visit:https://www.eventbrite.com/e/358370595097

With the majority of the world’s materials handling equipment originating from the cluster of engineering firms based in Mid-Ulster, this showcase taster event aims to support and encourage the next generation of women into engineering at all levels. It is open to all applicants and prospective students interested in pursuing a career within the Engineering Sector.

On the day, guests will learn about our full suite of courses and discover the wide range of career options available within the local and global Engineering industry via a series of informative talks and engaging sessions delivered by female alumni, current students, and employers.

Guests will also be able to ask questions, helping females discover and experience what it is like studying and working in Engineering, from a women's perspective.

The vibrant event will bring together females from across the sector and is suitable for female school leavers at post 16 and A-level, as well as current students interested in any of our School of Engineering - part-time, full-time, Apprenticeship and Higher Level Apprenticeship courses, which is now open for applications for courses starting September 2022.

"It is designed to give female school leavers and those looking to further their career prospects a valuable opportunity to experience at first hand the variety of exciting job options available to them and the high-quality skills training that is on offer to help them realise their ambitions right here on their doorstep.”

Una Taylor,
Engineering Hub Officer at South West College,

“With the growing costs of university tuition fees, it is vital that ambitious young people wishing to obtain higher-level qualifications are aware of the range of options available to help them make better, informed choices.”

Alastair Booth,
Head of the School for Engineering at South West College
