South West College has recently achieved a Gold Level certification in the Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey. The survey created by Business in the Community helps businesses across the region to examine, review, compare and improve their environmental performance, and champions organisations who are demonstrating action for real change.

The survey is open to all organisations in Northern Ireland and the college had previously been ranked at the Silver Level. More than 130 organisations of all sizes and from a range of industry sectors took part, including, construction, engineering, education and food and drink. The survey can help organisations to identify their individual impacts on the environment, measure progress to drive improvement and raise awareness of the environment as an important, strategic and competitive issue at board level.

Sharon McGrath, Director of Corporate Services at South West College, said;

“I am delighted that South West College has achieved Gold Level certification in the NI Environmental Benchmarking Survey. We are fortunate to have a very dedicated estates team who are passionate about the environment and ensuring that we minimise our negative impact on the environment.

We have successfully delivered several innovative programmes in recent years both for staff and students to ensure that they are more conscious of the environment and the role they play in the protection of that, and this award is a welcome recognition of that work.”
