South West College Chief Executive, Celine McCartan, has today recognised the importance of Mid Ulster Enterprise Week and Fermanagh & Omagh Enterprise Week, praising both councils for their leadership in championing enterprise, innovation, and business growth across the region.
Speaking at this year’s events, Ms McCartan highlighted the vital role that South West College plays as a first line of support for local businesses—from early-stage innovation to specialist skills development and workforce planning.
“Enterprise Week is a fantastic celebration of the ambition and resilience that define our region,” she said. “At South West College, we are proud to stand alongside our council partners in supporting businesses to innovate, grow, and stay competitive. Whether you are taking your first steps into innovation, upskilling your workforce, or developing new talent, the College is here to help.”
Ms McCartan highlighted three core Department for the Economy–funded programmes currently available to businesses and individuals:
InnovateUs
Introductory innovation support offering fully funded mentoring, R&D assistance, and hands-on technical expertise for micro and small businesses. Ideal for companies exploring new products, processes, or digital solutions.
Skills Focus
A bespoke training programme providing accredited qualifications at Level 2 and above for businesses with fewer than 250 employees. Training is 90% funded and tailored directly to employer needs.
Skill Up
A wide suite of fully funded courses for individuals wishing to enhance or update their skills in key growth and digital areas—supporting both career progression and business capability.
“These programmes are transforming how local businesses access skills, expertise, and innovation,” Ms McCartan added. “Our role is to make that journey simple, practical, and impactful.”
Businesses are encouraged to contact SWC Innotech, the College’s dedicated business support service, for guidance on the programmes most relevant to their needs.
