It was the honour of SWC’s Erne campus to host a visit from RICS President Clement Lau to congratulate the college on winning the UK Project Of The Year at the 2022 RICS UK Awards.

Award winning Erne Campus

The college won the prestigious award to add to a collection of honours for being the first building in the world to achieve the highest international standard in environmental construction and succeeded from hundreds of entrants across the UK.

The ceremony took place at the Londoner Hotel in Leicester Square, hosted by BBC and ITV presenter Helen Fospero and celebrated the UK’s most inspirational construction projects and those that had the most significant impact on the local communities in which they are based.

The Erne Campus has secured both BREEAM Outstanding and PassiveHaus Premium accreditation and RICS judges praised the pioneering sustainable construction, something that will see the building achieve a projected 90 percent reduction in energy costs.

RICS President praise

Clement Lau commented:

“I had the pleasure of touring Erne Campus following their (South West College’s) success at this year’s awards. I saw first hand many of the impressive initiatives that have been put in place to reduce the college’s environmental impact.

The teams behind this pioneering project should be incredibly proud of their achievements, it is a true testament to the tireless dedication of industry professional in Northern Ireland.”
