Beauty Therapy student Nicola Forsythe has excelled during her time at South West College’s Omagh Campus, completing both Level 2 and Level 3 Beauty Therapy and earning Student of the Year in each programme.
After dedicating several years to raising her family, Nicola made the decision to return to education and re-enter the workforce with a new professional focus. South West College (SWC) immediately stood out as the right place to begin that journey. “I wanted to return to work and retrain in a new occupation,” she explained. “SWC supported me with the skills and educational knowledge I needed from day one.”
During her studies, Nicola was introduced to industry-leading skincare brand Dermalogica, an opportunity that helped shape her professional direction.
“Not only was I given the opportunity to work with Dermalogica products, but I was able to train through the Dermalogica Pro programme,” she said. Nicola is now Dermalogica Certified, has progressed to Dermalogica Specialist, and is currently training towards Dermalogica Expert status, the brand’s highest level of recognition.
Today, Nicola is employed as a Beauty Therapist at Aileen’s Spa and Retreat in Donaghmore, where she confidently delivers a range of advanced beauty and skincare treatments. “SWC gave me the knowledge and skills required to complete beauty treatments and the confidence to work with the public,” she said.
Driven by a passion for both science and skincare, Nicola is committed to helping clients achieve healthier, more radiant skin and feel more confident in themselves. “I enjoy providing a good service to clients and helping people improve their confidence. My future goals are to train in new skincare technologies and continue expanding my knowledge.”
Reflecting on her experience, Nicola highlights just how instrumental SWC has been in her development.
“I spent two years at SWC, and it provided me with the knowledge and skill set I needed for the beauty industry. The course gave me the confidence to return to work after 13 years raising my family. Their training and guidance made the transition back to work smooth and empowering. The beauty course opened doors I never thought would be possible.”
