South West College is excited to announce that the Get Engineering Careers and Apprenticeship Fair will return to Dungannon campus on Saturday, 28th March 2026, from 9.30 am – 12.30 pm, showcasing the wide range of opportunities available to young people in the engineering sector.
If you are considering a career with real growth potential, this is the ultimate careers event to connect with over 30 employers from the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Industry.
Thanks to South West College’s strong connections with local industry, Get Engineering is one of the most vibrant events in our calendar. Visitors can look forward to a full line-up of live demonstrations and workshops, alongside demonstrations of 3D scanning, rapid prototyping, robotic and virtual welding, automation, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
Attendees will also gain hands-on insight into machinery and equipment manufactured locally and exported globally, providing a real understanding of the ever-evolving engineering world.
The Get Engineering initiative is a partnership between South West College and leading engineering companies, designed to raise awareness of the wide range of career opportunities in the local engineering sector.
Local employers such as McCloskey International, Terex, Mallaghan Engineering, Dunbia, Nugent Engineering, Edge Innovate and others will be present to discuss employment opportunities, entry routes, career pathways, and application processes.
Prospective students can also learn more about degree opportunities, ‘Earn while you Learn’ Apprenticeships, and Higher-Level Apprenticeships and hear directly from current apprentices about the benefits of their programmes.
The free event will also feature employer exhibition stands offering guidance on careers for design engineers, technical service engineers, welders/fabricators, CNC operators, and engineering business support roles, helping students make informed choices. SWC staff will be available for additional career guidance and support.
This must-see event is an ideal opportunity for post-16 learners, parents/guardians, and anyone looking to enter or progress within the engineering sector to explore the campus, meet staff, network and learn about South West College’s full-time, part-time, and Apprenticeship courses, now open for applications for September 2026.
John Dolan, Deputy Head of Department for Engineering at South West College, said:
“The Get Engineering Careers Fair is a fantastic opportunity for young people and their parents/Guardians to see the apprenticeship options available. It gives school leavers and those looking to progress their careers a chance to experience first-hand the exciting job opportunities and high-quality skills training available right here on their doorstep.
With university tuition fees rising, it’s more important than ever that ambitious young people know about the range of alternative pathways to higher-level qualifications. I encourage everyone in the community drop in and see what’s on offer.”
