This week the Early Years team at SWC welcomed Employer's from across the South West Region for a networking coffee morning. Leaders from the Sector could learn more about how we can support the childcare sector with our Professional Development courses, Apprenticeships, and wider suite of FE and HE CCLD qualifications.

The morning gave the opportunity to share practice, thank employers for their support in offering placements to students, and for students to showcase some of their end of year projects.

Curriculum Manager Fey Cole said: "We have strong partnerships with local Early Years settings and many now working in industry have been students with us here at SWC. The apprenticeship programme is now in its second year and is open to all ages, a great option for those returning to education, or deciding to embark on a career change.

Our short courses also provide opportunity for staff to up-skill and keep up to date with a range of key areas of practice, from supporting additional needs and mindfulness for children, to our new HE course that was introduced this year 'understanding adverse childhood experiences'.

It was a lovely morning to welcome leaders and managers to SWC to connect and review how we can further develop the strong collaborative links we have with Early Years providers. Students involvement in the event was a very positive aspect to the day and I thank them for their hard work in preparing their projects to share with industry leaders on the day. Hosting these events help to build student's confidence, teamwork and communication skills by being actively involved and sharing their experiences of being a student at SWC and we hope this provides them with further confidence once they progress into the workforce'.

CCLD Apprenticeships can be tailored to suit private businesses, contact Curriculum Manager Fey if you would like to find out more on the funding stipulations and how we can support your organisation: Fey.Cole@swc.ac.uk. You can also apply directly by following the webpage:
