Overview

The Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) IT Support certification develops your industry skills and knowledge to help start careers in a variety of IT roles.

These roles include:

  • IT end user support
  • IT help desk support
  • Computer support specialists
  • IT help desk analyst

Content covered includes:

  • Hardware: Identifying CPU types, RAM, storage, and peripheral connections.
  • Operating Systems: Understanding the basics of Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile OS (Android/iOS).
  • Software Management: Learning how to install, update, and manage applications and drivers.
  • IP Addressing: Understanding the difference between IPv4 and IPv6, and how DHCP assigns addresses.
  • Connectivity Types: Differentiating between Wi-Fi standards, Ethernet, and cellular data.
  • Networking Hardware: Identifying the roles of routers, switches, and access points.
  • Threat Awareness: Recognising malware, phishing, and social engineering tactics.
  • The Troubleshooting Process: Following a logical path.
  • Customer Service: Focus on soft skills required for interacting with customers.

Documentation: The importance of keeping logs and using ticketing systems to track issues.
