Funding Support for Students
HND Diploma in Performing Arts offers Learners the chance to develop a broad range of skills in the subject area. This course offers an ideal opportunity to build on work from Level 3 Performing Arts or Drama, to pursue a specialist interest and focus on practical performance skills, or for those with experience in acting who wish to return to study. Skills Focus funding available towards course fees for eligible employers to up skill staff or for self employed students. Please ask for further details.
There is a strong practical element to the course which is underpinned by academic processes. Core units focus on developing an understanding of the performing arts industry and research skills. Practical work begins with a focus on building skills in areas such as voice, movement, mask, acting and writing. These practical and academic skills are then applied to a number of performance projects. The course is structured into eight units.
Four GCSE passes including English and Maths or equivalent and one A Level or a BTEC Level 3 Diploma or an approved Access course. Refer to general entry requirements.
Assessment is through assignments to be completed throughout the year. These will take a variety of formats including: presentations, written assignments, recorded discussions, practical demonstrations, rehearsal journals, research tasks, evaluations and performances.
This course could lead to a career in acting for stage, screen or radio. It also leads directly into further study at higher level in subjects such as Acting, Drama, Theatre Studies, Performing Arts, Drama Therapy and Education. The course provides a range of transferable skills which would be useful in a wide range of careers, including: teaching, youth and community work, presenting, marketing, customer service and journalism.
